The new powertrain will likely be a 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit, which will make its debut with the new-gen Verna, set to go on sale very soon. This engine could put out around 159 PS of maximum power and 253 Nm of peak torque, which will make it more powerful and torquier than the outgoing engine. Moreover, the new engine will likely be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, as well as a 7-speed DCT.
As of now, the Hyundai Creta retails from Rs 10.64 lakh to Rs 18.68 lakh (ex-showroom), however, it is yet to be seen if the introduction of the new powertrain will result in a price hike. That said, the new T-GDi motor will also likely make way to the Kia Seltos and Carens soon.
