The car scored a total of 34.7 points out of 38 for adult occupant protection, securing a 91% rating, while child occupancy protection was rated at 89% after scoring 44 points out of the maximum 49. The scores apply to both LHD and RHD versions of the BYD Atto 3, which means that it will also be applicable to the India-spec version of the electric SUV.

The Atto 3 will be brought to the country in the form of semi-knocked down kits (SKD), and will then be assembled here. The high safety rating is a result of the host of active and passive features that BYD has equipped the electric SUV with, including 7 airbags, ESP, traction control, TPMS, electronic parking brake, as well as a range of ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) features like automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot detection, lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.
While pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, the BYD Atto 3 is expected to be priced close to the Rs 30 lakh mark, and directly rival the likes of the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric in the Indian market upon its arrival.
