The price of petrol and diesel remained stagnant in all Indian cities on Friday, October 14, 2022. Despite a fall in crude oil prices globally, Oil Marketing Companies have not changed the fuel prices in India for over four months now. On May 21, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an excise duty cut on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre, respectively.
Later on, July 15, the Maharashtra government had announced a Value-Added Tax (VAT) cut on petrol by Rs 5 per litre and on diesel by Rs 3 per litre. Today, petrol price in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs 89.62 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol and diesel are retailed at Rs 106.31 per litre and Rs 97.28 per litre, respectively. Petrol price in Kolkata stands at Rs 102.63 per litre, while diesel price in Kolkata is Rs 102.63 per litre.
