Tata Tiago EV vs Tata Tigor EV: Which affordable electric car should you choose? – Times of India

Tata Motors recently launched much awaited Tiago EV to the Indian market at Rs 8.49 lakh. The Tiago EV was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 and was expected to hit the Indian roads by 2020. However, the manufacturer launched it last week starting from Rs 8.49 lakh and now Tiago EV is the most affordable electric car in India the Tiago EV is the fourth all-electric car from the homegrown automaker after Nexon EV, Nexon EV Max and Tigor EV.
First, let’s compare motor and battery pack options.
Tiago EV vs Tigor EV: Battery, charging and electric motor.
The Tigor EV is available with a single battery pack option. The electric sedan is powered by a 26 kWh battery pack. The electric motor produces 74 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque and Tata claims that the electric sedan can sprint from 0-60 in just 5.7 seconds.

Now let’s talk about Tiago EV, the Tiago EV is offered with two battery pack options a 19.2 kWh one and 24 kWh.
The 25 kWh battery pack come with a driving range of 315 km whereas the 19.2kWh battery offers claimed range of 250km.
The Tiago EV offers 74 hp of power and 114 Nm of peak torque. It also reaches 0-60 kmph in 5.7 seconds, just like the Tiago EV.
Talking about the charging capabilities of the Tiago EV, Tata claims that it is capable of charging 10-80 per cent in 57 minutes whereas the Tigor EV can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in around 60 minutes.
Tiago EV vs Tigor EV: Interior and Features
The interior of the Tiago EV is similar ICE counterpart except for subtle changes. The Tiago gets blue accents on the interior. The gear lever has been replaced with a rotary dial for the drive mode selector and also the Tiago EV gets Sports mode.
Talking about the features, the Tiago EV gets 45 connected car tech, hill start and descent assist, TPMS, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, push-button start/stop and cruise control. The Tiago EV also gets a multi-mode regen – first introduced with the Nexon EV Max – with four levels.
The Tigor EV also retains much of the look from its petrol variant. It gets a dark-toned interior with EV-themed colour detailing that is tastefully done with electric blue accents around the instrument panel, AC vents and on the seat fabric, where the stitching and tri-arrow pattern.
In terms of features, the Tata Tigor EV gets a 7-inch touch screen boosted by Harman-Kardon stereo, Apple car play, Android Auto, 30+ connected features, and a suite of a connectivity packages.
It also gets a fully digital driver’s display.
Conveniences include one USB port, automatic climate control, cooled glovebox, rear parking camera with adaptive guidelines and auto-foldable IRVMs.
Tiago EV vs Tigor EV: Variants and Pricing
The Tata Tiago EV is available with four trims – XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech Lux and the Tigor EV on the other hand is also available with four trims – XE, XM, XZ+ and XZ+ Dual tone.

Tata Tiago EV comes priced between ₹8.49 lakh and ₹11.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tigor EV, on the other hand, comes priced between ₹12.49 lakh and ₹13.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
