The Indian automotive market has witnessed lots of new cars and SUV launches in past 2-3 months and the festive season is already here and we are going to witness some interesting car and SUV launches this month.

1. MG Hector Facelift
MG Motor India recently launched the facelifted MG Gloster to the Indian market and now the company is ready to roll out the new and updated MG Hector.
The updated MG Hector will get a revised front end with a large “Argyle-inspired” diamond-mesh grille with prominent chrome surrounds at the grille’s top.
Moving on to the interior, the SUV will now feature a massive 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with embedded e-sim. Apart from that, the SUV will get a revised dashboard design with new horizontal AC vents, and a centre console that gets a new flowing design, along with a new gear lever.
The updated MG Hector is also expected to get Level-2 ADAS tech which includes lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and lane departure warning.
Mechanically no changes are expected, the SUV will be offered with two 143hp, 1.5-litre petrol engines – one with mild-hybrid technology – and a Fiat-derived 2.0-litre multijet turbo Diesel engine which produces 170 bhp of power.
2022 MG Hector is likely to be priced around Rs 1.5 lakh-2 lakh more than the current model. When launched, the SUV continues to compete with Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks.
2. BYD Atto 3 EV
BYD (Build Your Dreams) is all set to launch the Atto 3 EV to the Indian market on October 11. When launched the Atto 3 EV will compete with rivals such as Tata Nexon EV, MZ ZS EV, Hyundai Kona EV and Mahindra XUV400 electric.
Talking about the Atto 3, BYD currently sells the Atto 3 in markets like Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. In Australia, the electric car is available in two different battery pack options.
These 49.92 kWh and 60.48 kWh battery packs offer 345 km and 420 km ranges, respectively. We expect these two battery pack options for the BYD Atto 3 EV to be available in India as well.
The Atto 3 EV will come to India through SKD (semi-knocked down) assembly route. The parts of the car will be bought from overseas and will be assembled here at the company’s Chennai facility.
Talking about the pricing, BYD is expected to price the Atto 3 EV starting from Rs 25 lakh.
3. Toyota Glanza CNG
Toyota Kirloskar motor is expected to launch the CNG powered version of the Toyota Glanza this month.
The Glanza CNG will continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre K-series Petrol engine, however, the power output will see a dip from around 90hp to about 77hp for the CNG. The Glanza CNG will be available only with the manual transmission, and not the AMT.
The Toyota Glanza is available in four trims – E, G, S and V. Out of these four trims, Toyota is expected to offer the CNG Glanza in the G, S and V trim levels, and will skip the base E trim.
Talking about the pricing, we expect Toyota to charge a premium of about Rs 75,000 for the CNG-powered version.
4. Nissan’s new electric SUV
Nissan India has sent us a invite for October 18, 2022. Nissan India has managed to keep the details of this event a secret. The invite says ‘Move Beyond’ hinting at the debut of an electric vehicle. We are expecting that Nissan might unveil the Ariya EV in India which made its global debut in July 2020. This electric SUV is claimed to offer a range of up to 500 km per charge and is expected to be priced around Rs 25 lakh.
