Addressing the party workers rally in Guwahati Sarma said, “We must start working for 2024 Lok Sabha polls and ensure Modi comes back to power for a third term. Out of 14 seats in Assam, our target is to win 12 seats.”
In 2019 parliamentary polls BJP in Assam increased its tally from seven of 2014 to nine in 2019, across Northeast India BJP which won eight seats in the last parliamentary election increased the seat tally to 14 in 2019. Together with allies, BJP won 18 seats out of 25 seats, the best ever performance of the Saffron party in the region.
Sarma said, “Centre has taken a bold decision of banning Popular Front of India (PFI) recently.”
Sarma on Saturday washed the feet of senior BJP functionaries and called it an “ethos of Indian culture”.
While sharing the video on Twitter, Sarma stated, “Showing respect to the seniors, an ethos of Indian culture, is a cornerstone of our party’s tradition. Honoured to have washed the feet of our respected senior BJP functionaries whose immense contributions helped strengthen our party’s base in the early phase in Assam.
